Happy [Belated] New Year!

Hi everyone, it has been a while since my last post.

Truth be told, at the end of every year, I do my best to set aside some time to take stock, introspect, and evaluate. I take a critical look at myself and what I did well, what good did I do, and what I (still) suck at, and what I should or could have done better. From this I make actionable goals to work on to help me be the me I want to be, or at the very least, to simply suck less.

Don’t worry, I won’t be writing a New Year’s Resolution listicle, I promise. ^.^

I have struggled for the last quarter of 2024. Though I ended the year on a personally positive note, I have seen a fair few gut punches throughout the year. I think most of us have just in the socio-political sphere alone. Starting this year, my employer has increased my workload and I will not have the energy and time to devote to research and writing. All these things take a toll. As such, I won’t be able to maintain a regular publishing schedule for the first half of this year.

Yes, I will continue to write; however, it will be when the motivation and energy meets enough buffer time to make some decent headway. I want to focus more on the Q&A and debunking articles, but those take a lot of time and energy. Shorter, satirical, or more opinion pieces may be possible/more frequent when I can, as those take less time and effort to polish.

Furthermore, the troublesome aspects of this platform are not lost on me. As we all have known for a little while now, it has a Nazi problem, and the allegory of the bartender is not lost on me. It’s latest move to elevate “The Free Press” has only made this quandary even more clear and pressing for me.

Therefore I am currently exploring options to migrate PITT to my own self-hosted platform, as well as standing up a proper wiki for the Q&A content. Likewise, I am considering creating an account on Mastodon and have made on on BlueSky while dropping notes and twitter.

The technical work is already done, but moving the content and cleaning it up for the new platform is not - I have a large number of articles and links that will need to be cleaned up and updated. For those interested in BlueSky, you can find me there at @pittpeople.bsky.social. I have yet to make a Mastodon account specifically for PITT but that will eventually be made and announced at a later date.

Even with this effort made, there are no guarantees I am going to migrate.
This is all currently in the exploratory/experimentation phase.

So that is where I am at in regards to writing here on Substack.

I encourage everyone to please follow

Until my next post, please remember to take care of yourselves and look out for each other; we are stronger together, so don’t panic - organize!
